From Silver to Gold: 2022 GNB Annual Conference

Good Neighbors Bangladesh arranged the 2022 annual conference from 25th to 27th January 2022 at GNB Conference Hall with maintaining the COVID 19 protocol. The objective of this conference was to share the GNB Vision 2021 Evaluation Results and Announcement of Golden Jubilee Expectations and also to share the achievements of 2021. “From Silver to Gold” with this slogan 2022 GNB Annual Conference has taken place.

The chief guest of the program was K M Tariqul Islam, Director General, NGO Affairs Bureau of Bangladesh. Special guests were Dr. Md. Ashfaqul Islam Babool, Director (Joint Secretary), NGOAB, Dr. Abu Jamil Faisel, Public Health Expert, Advisor MOHFW & Chairman Health 21. Representatives from various INGOs and local NGOs joined the event.

Mr. M Mainuddin Mainul, Country Director, GNB presided over the program. He mentioned in his opening speech that GNB has already announced the vision 2030 to implement the SDG 5 years plan of the Bangladesh Govt. and to ensure child right. GNB has participated as a consultant member in the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in the formulation of SDG.

K M Tariqul Islam mentioned that in many remote areas of our country GNB is working to ensure child education and health. He also mentioned that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina got the “SDG Progress Award” by UN-SDSN for Bangladesh’s steady progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals which has been made possible by the activities of NGOs like Good Neighbors Bangladesh. Dr. Md. Ashfaqul Islam Babool gave some advice on how to make the activities of NGOs more effective.

Dr. Abu Jamil Faisel mentioned that GNB is working amazingly for ensuring child education, women empowerment with sustainability, and health with community engagement. He mentioned that everyone in society should incorporate these three activities of GNB in their own works for the betterment of society. He said that people have to give importance to the prevention measures for more development in the health sector.

At the program, Mr. Bartin Gomes, Head of M&E unit, PSD presented the GNB Vision 2021 evaluation. Mr. Joseph Dias, Head of Admin Unit, and Ms. Razia Sultana, Senior Manager, Education, Child and Women rights and Health presented GNB Golden Jubilee expectation 2022-2046.  A cultural program was conducted by the child & youth group of Gulshan and Mirpur FDP. There were sessions for sports, cultural night, and award distribution.
